Marin Needle Arts Guild
P.O. Box 6015, San Rafael, CA 94903

The Marin Needle Arts Guild brings together quilters, needle artists and fiber artists. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in the Needle Arts.

The upcoming year promises to be another year of innovative workshops and/or projects. Look forward to potlucks and "make and take" events.

Our goal is to promote the Needle Arts through education. We are continuing our efforts to build our membership and teach others a variety of skills. There will be workshop classes the 3rd Saturday of most months. Members are always available to help anyone interested in learning a new skill, or improving their techniques. Beginners are encouraged to come join us for a fun filled day of learning and productivity.

New Quilting Class:

Beginning February 3, 2014 Marin Needle Arts Guild will be offering a beginning Quilt class. Individuals of all skill levels are invited to join us to improve their skills. Classes will be held at Aldersgate Church, Social Hall from 4:00pm - 6:00pm on the first Monday of the month. Contact us for additional information.

Members are busy working on the 2014 Raffle Quilts, check back soon for updates and pictures. Sale of raffle tickets help support our Outreach program.

2013 was a banner year with guild members continuing to support our multiple outreach programs. There were chemo caps and pillows donated to several local hospital or chemo therapy units early in the year. 14 Quilts and over 40 pillowcases were sent to the troops in support of the Wounded Warrior program.

The April workshop day members made doll clothes and toys, which were donated to the "Stitchin for Kids" program, a dedicated group of individuals make and collect items to be distributed to several hospitals. The items are ear-marked for children in long-term care or life threatening situations. Having fun special toys helps comfort them as they go through the treatments.

In November we presented 10 quilts to Homeward Bound of Marin to be distributed to their shelter residents; guild members are already working on additional quilts that will be presented later in the year. Last, but certainly not least, during the year several convalescent hospitals and dementia facilities were presented with walker caddies, activity blankets, scarves and caps, knit throws, and lap quilts; there were over 50 items delivered in December.

Check out our Outreach Page for photos of some of the items we donated in 2013! Look for more items to be donated in 2014.

There are always Outreach projects to work on, a few are listed below:

    • Quilts to be donated to the community
    • Activity Blankets to make for hospitals
    • Walker Caddies for convalescent hospitals
    • Knitted scarves for the Veterans
